All Contractors and Residents must Obtain a PERMIT before beginning any Build, Improvement Project, or Remodel. All Contractors are REQUIRED to Register and must be insured and bonded.
All Residents and Contractors are REQUIRED to Obtain the proper Permits for their Residential Improvement Projects.
Before commencing the erection, construction, installation, enlargement, raising, alteration, repair or the removal of any building structure, wall or heating, gas fitting, electrical, house drainage, plumbing or, elevator work or any part thereof in the Village contact Timberlake’s Zoning & Maintenance Inspector, Gary Gray.

Several Permit Types may be required, depending on the extent of your project. Some Permits are issued by Timberlake, and Other Permits are obtained through the Lake County Building Department, or the Lake County General Health District for Plumbing.

The Lake County Building Department and The Lake County Health District for Plumbing issues Residential Improvement Permits, although a Timberlake Zoning Permit will also be required for:

If it is determined that you must acquire your Permit from the LCBD or the LCGHD, Permits are acquired at the LCBD or the LCGHD and FEES are to be Paid directly to the Lake County Treasurer.
The Lake County Building Department is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the applicable State of Ohio Building codes for residential, commercial, and industrial construction in its jurisdictions, including the Village of Timberlake. These Building Codes provide the department’s inspectors with guidelines to help ensure the health and welfare of residents. Certified by the State of Ohio, the Building Department provides plan reviews, inspection services, and building, electrical, mechanical and fire protection code information.

Steps to Obtaining your Permit:
Step 1 Contact Gary Gray at (216) 316-0896or contact via email: buildinginspector@villageoftimberlake.com
Step 2 Discuss Project to Determine Permit Type: Timberlake, Lake County Building Department, Lake County General Health District…
Step 3 Mr. Gray can and will provide and direct you with instructions and timelines, including where to pick-up your Permit, where to drop-off your FEE, etc… Or you may contact the LCBD or the LCGHD directly.
Step 4 SUBMIT all Timberlake PERMIT FEES to Mr. Gray, or the LCT via the LCBD or the LCGHD.
Step 5 All FEES must be Paid by Check. Cash is absolutely NOT acceptable. Make Checks out to: “The Village of Timberlake“, or the “Lake County Treasurer“.
Step 6 DISPLAY any and all of your Permit’s at your site.
